Daniela Gutmann (she/her or none) is a visual artist, performer and film maker based in Linz / Austria.
„I move mainly in the fields of performance, experimental film, video art, photography, installation and sound. My interest lies in the tension between physical, real conditions, sensual perception and its alienation. My starting point, or rather my base, is seeded with a performative observation. It embraces a sense of gesture, a poetic rhythm of words, and an awareness of physicalities. At the threshold of representation and abstraction I create unusual constellations and situations.

I work with analogue material, bodies, ice, dust, noodles, latex and words. I am currently deepening and expanding the question of how the performative body becomes camera, projection and ultimately film.
In my works, I address socio-political issues, which I translate into poetic narrative forms. My approach is to open up spaces of sensuality and atmosphere that create a kind of friction. My performative works often have a humorous, amusing to critical-bitter aftertaste.“
