The performance Who The Fuck is Going To Save The World is about a person who does everything in their power to save the world, but seemingly fails. At the beginning, the performer enters the room brushing her teeth. She nails a cushion to the wall to let her head sink into it. A voice is heard from offstage, emphasising the absurdity of the plan to ‘save the world’:
‘Once upon a time.
there was a human being.
which really really wanted to save this fucking world.
The heroic figure has tried everything in its power…
Every day the being got out of bed after a long long nightmare.
it even ate breakfast and had a few nice conversations with its neighbour cats, watered the flowers and read books.
it never chewed chewing gum or even ate broccoli.
the person went for walks with the hedgehog. and painted clouds with its fingers.[…]’
The costume to save the world is made by people from the audience with the help of gaffa tape. Objects such as a round mirror, which later breaks the ‘fourth wall’, a belt made of spray cans that is strapped on, and allusions such as „Niemals das Handtuch werfen“ (Never throw in the towel) are followed by expressions of exhaustion, heroic body positions and erratic, diverse vocal and physical outbursts.
Who the Fuck is Going To Save The World is not only about being loud, but also about falling down, wallowing, trying, stumbling and discovering in order to fall down again and blow questions into the space. Musically underscored by Eurythmics‘ “I Saved The World Today”, the performer celebrates, bathes and ultimately cares for the possible solution to save the world.
